i turned left

not really another baby post, but remember when i talked about that huge fork in the road back in april? well, i took the advise from an old friend of mine (yes, that's you gaijin wife) and went "left".
the ball is now officially rolling.

my sleepless nights of worrying what path i should take are not really over as i'm still not exactly getting much sleep (hello, baby in the house). but boy am i glad that i have finally made a decision.

and what decision is that you ask?

well, it's actually two life-changing decisions, but you'll have to wait for part two of this saga.
i really should stop rambling and just spit it out huh?

here we go...

from next month i'm gonna be a housewifehusband!
OMG, what th heck have i gotten myself into!?!?
i'm gonna be waking up throughout the night breastfeeding (extracted milk by the way) making breakfast and blowing the kisses to k-chan as she goes out the door to work.
between rocking kou-chan to sleep, i will be doing the washing, vacuuming, dusting, basically keeping the apartment in tiptop shape. (thank gog i have a slight cleaning fetish!)
but hang on... i thought japanese housewives kissed hubby goodbye, put on some makeup, pulled out that carefully hidden LV bag (payed with hubby's money) and met her other housewife friends at some swanky ginza cafe for lunch.
mmm, i gotta find me some local house-husbands who don't mind a bit of shopping at prada.

but before you start offering to jet-set over to hong kong and give me a helping hand (anyone?), let me just point out that this is not long term. i will only be wearing that frilly apron for a few months before part two of our plan kicks into action.

stay tuned.

oh, and check out this.
that DHL guy turned up again with his a nice package from japan.
turned out to be this cool diaper cake first made famous on sex in the city

seriously too beautiful to cut into pull apart.

congrats on the new "title". all i can say is, good luck, buddy! not many men can or will ever take on such a daunting task! not the easiest in the world to do...is it a wonder why the ladies are so eager to go back to work? LOL, just joking! How's sleep coming along? I'm lucky if I get 4 hours straight!

Wow! I don't know the working man you but knowing the you you I think you will be a great 'kiwi' husband. It's hard it is - the lack of adult conversation. Play dates are essential and you will so be able to fit in with mummy play groups. Will be hard on K-chan though :) hearing about your play dates with desperate housewives!!

We can play date - I'll FINALLY sort out damn skype!!

Good luck! and try and enjoy some of it at least...

Hey - and a bit of pressure now you took the 'left'. Not to be held responsible! Although I tend to think, at times when I can rationally at the end of a day looking after small children, that being a SAHM or father is very rewarding.

What an exciting decision! :)
I think it's great you will be having this special bond with your little one. Not many dads get to do it and are able to. And your decision tells me you can. If you ever need any tips or whatever let me know!

that's so cool. i applaud your decision! very norwegian-man-kind of thing to do :)

pay for the airfare and i'll happily assist you. haha!

and what a pleasant package. i mean that the dhl guy brought. i must admit a "diaper cake" doesn't sound very tempting to eat. lol. but it's probably very nice since it came all the way from japan :-D

I shouldn't show Devil this or he'll be on a plane to HK in a jiffy to go shopping with you, new househusband status and all. (After all he's not called the Devil Wears Prada for nuthin'.)

Bravo, by the way. Bravo! :)

P.S. Now very curious about Phase II on Your Road Less Travelled. Will stay tuned.

oh, and i wonder how much we have changed since we last saw each other. hope we can do a catch up somewhere along the lines.

funny you should say it's very norwegian-man thing. my ancestors were from norway... maybe that's where i got it from!

oh, and that diaper cake is made from 30 or so diapers. pretty cool idea huh.
and by the amount of blimmin diapers we go through this cake is an awesome idea!

so who is this devil? i hear about him on your blog alot. does he have a blog too?
he's most welcome on my shores, as long as he's not another meryl streep.

Really? Your ancestors are from Norway?! How far back? That's funny! Do you know what part of the country? you should totally come over here and trace your roots! i'll be your guide :)
