a first

today was kou-chan's 6-month old birthday (i know... i'm a new dad, but 6 months is a big milestone for little kou-chan so don't burst my bubble).

on halloween kou-chan learnt how to roll over onto his stomach so it won't be long now before he starts to crawl. naturally i'm looking forward to that moment but i'm so not looking forward to moving all the furniture around so he can't reach things he shouldn't be reaching for.

even when he was only a few months old he showed great interest in what we were eating or drinking, but we decided to not start him on solids until he turned 6 months old. so today was the big day!
k-chan made him some plain rice congee (porridge?!) and we put it to the test.

the result:

mmm.

kou-chan kinda liked the liquid but didn't really know what to do with the soft grains of rice; which he just spat out.
i think this is how it's supposed to go. no?

a few more photos of the "big event".

now just waiting for the smelly follow-through (the poo) which apparently is the unpleasant part of moving on from breast milk to solids.

awwwww.... I remember that moment.
not to worry, Kou-chan is showing absolutely normal response :)
I started with congee water then moved on to congee when I did that, so natsukashii~! :)

Proud Daddy must have taken tons more photos than these three pics - oh, I dun envy you the going through and selecting the best/favourites, not when all is so cute! Hehe.

i checked in the magazine this morning and you are right; this face is a normal response.

we didn't realize how easy it is to make the baby congee in a normal rice cooker while cooking our rice at the same time! amazing!

actually it was kinda easy to select the photos this time as kou-chan's faces were all of a similar pose.
but you are right; proud daddy did take tonnes of photos of this once-off event!
