sunday at the park

while our new car was getting it's one-month servicing (yes! we bought a new car!) we walked down to the local park and played in the shallow stream and watched the older kids catch freshwater crayfish.
perfect day for chilling out in the warm sun eating yakisoba and munching on chocolate coated bananas.

the rainy season will be here before we know it so we have to make the most of this great weather while it lasts!

It definitely looks like an idyllic day to go to the park! Is it summer or spring? I get confused since we just get dry and wet seasons here. hahha!

i just bought a new car on saturday, hooray for new cars unless you have to make payments like me...ANYWAY what a beautiful day and yummy food to boot. i think i need to make chocolate covered bananas. Kou-chan looks angelic while he is sleeping.why does the heart seem to melt more when they are sleeping?

congrats on your new car! everything looks so summery in your pics.

and how cute kou chan looks when he's sleeping! when kids look like that, i forget how much noise and how naughty they can be :)

it's spring here so the temperatures have been really nice, perfect park-days.
but in saying that the rainy season will probably start in a week or two. it's already started down south.

when is your rainy season? I'm heading down your way in august...

it was a great day out and it's even better when you go to the park and find an unexpected little stream running through it. kindy wished I was a kid again without all these adult responsibilities!

ooh, congratulations on the new car!! have you got it yet? here in japan they manufacture it after you place an order so even though we made the big down payment we still had to wait a month until we were gripping that leather steering wheel! and yup, we will be paying it off for a while yet...

if you're gonna make chocolate bananas, do it right!
the chocolate on chocolate bananas in japan is not sweet, always a bit of a dissapointment for me.

seriously our house is soooo peaceful when kou-chan is asleep. one of my favorite pastimes is taking an afternoon nap with him on the weekend. total bliss.

Hey, coming here for work? Or vacation? Well, August is an in-between month. Rainy season starts from June and ends in November, but there you still get a little drizzle here and there during December. From experience though, August is sometimes an in-between month. Sometimes we don't get that much rain, sometimes we get storms then. But looking at the weather now (it's been raining like crazy) you probably would get an OK weather then. :)

vacation thank god.
and not exactly to your city but further south to cebu, just wanna chill out.
I've seen some great baskets and rugs which are made in the philippeans for sale here in japan. wonder if it will be easy to find some to bring back?

Wow, good, in Cebu! It'll be sunny, but just be ready with an umbrella for the rain just in case. A drizzle perhaps, but hoping there won't be much more. We'll be taking most of the brunt of the rains I suppose. :)

It'd be relatively easier to get some rugs and baskets in cebu -- and just to note, they have great furniture there too. By the way, just in case you're into fabrics, especially tribal ones, try looking for Anthill Fabric Gallery. :) http://www.anthillfabricgallery.com/index.php

ohh, thanks for that link! I'm all into a spot of tribal fabric shopping.
I've been wanting to visit your country for a long time now and had planned to go when I was living in hong kong but it just never eventuated. glad it's finally happening now!
we plan to spend our last two nights at a hotel in the city so if you have any recommendations (food, shopping, sights etc) please drop me a line.
shame we can't get up to Manila to meet you!

I'll go ask my cousin and my godmother. They lived there for years, so they can hopefully give you good recommendations. :) Let me know which area so that it'd be easier for you to travel around. Maybe next time you visit here, or when I accidentally drop by Japan. Heehee!

ive got a feeling that we are not going to be able to explore too much with a 2-year old tagging along...
