Furoshiki & Cha no Ka : 風呂敷&茶の菓

k-chan has been extremely spoilt getting all kinds of get-well presents from all over the globe as far away as new zealand to the netherlands! (thanks g&s!!)

our great friends t&m who live in japan's ancient capital kyoto were kind enough to include me in their get-well package.
check out these beautiful furoshiki (風呂敷) embroidered with our initials.

furoshiki is a piece of cloth which was traditionally used to carry clothes in when one went to the local bath. nowadays furoshiki are used to wrap up and carry anything from japanese lunch boxes to gifts for that special someone.
not only are furoshiki environmentally friendly but they are definitely more trendy than plastic bags! (were plastic bags ever trendy?!)

t&m also spoilt us with some delicious cha no ka (茶の菓) from the exclusive malebranche store in kyoto's upmarket kitayama district.
cha no ka consists of a thick layer of japanese white chocolate sandwiched between two classic french cookies dusted with rich highly valued shirakawa tea from uji kyoto, the home of japanese green tea.

absolutely divine!

thank you t&m!
look forward to seeing you both again in hong kong later this year!

actually cha no ka is an exclusive cookie only sold in kyoto so i guess many people don't know about it.
it was really shinjirarenaigurai oishikatta! especailly as i'm a bit of a fan of white chocolate!
