Tokyo : 東京

yippie! less than a month ago i was in tokyo and now i'm back again!
(not for business this time; thank god)

i was only in tokyo for a few days before scooting off up north so i have been flat out racing around tokyo doing all the things i couldn't fit into my hectic business trip last time.

in the evening i caught up with my old friends whom i met when i did a stint in london some seven years ago! (he was my hair stylist back in the day).

y&e took k-chan and i to an awesome little sushi slash izakaya (japanese style pub/bar) near tokyo's trendy midtown where we dined on beautiful fresh food at uoshin (魚真).

while we were busy drinking and catching up i wondered if i had washed back one too many asahi beers as i started to feel the floor under my feet move and noticed the lanterns overhead begin to sway. ok, so i may have had too many asahis but it wasn't my mind playing tricks, it was a blimmin earthquake!!
not a nice feeling in over-populated tokyo...
i was beginning to think whether or not i should dive under the table but instead i followed my fellow tokyoites, oohed and arred for a bit and then gulped back some more asahi!
mmm, the joys of tokyo!

aiiii Midtown. Miss the supermarket there. You shoulda just dived right under for the heck of it. I'll be in Tokyo on the 9th of Sept. Since you're there frequently now any chance you'll be there? Gonna check out the Gift show.

We've only had two or three earthquakes in my part of the US since I've been alive. Very, very minor ones.

Still scary, though.

now i find it hard to believe that i used to find earthquakes "normal" when i was living in japan!
now in earthquake-free hong kong i glad to be away from those tectonic plates! scary stuff.
