Clay Pots

i love wandering around the back streets of hong kong on the look out for something "special".
what i find "special" is probably considered "normal" to another, but this is all part of the fun.

just the other day i was on one of these hunts and i came across these locally made clay pots.
i knew they would be heavy and bulky to cart around with me but i couldn't resit the urge to get a few.

clay pot rice (煲仔飯) is a locally loved dish here in hong kong (although i have yet to have one i enjoyed...), but after a bit of online research i have found some yummy recipes using ingredients that my taste buds might appreciate.

obviously this purchase was meant to be, as the next day i was flicking through the latest
japanese woman's ecocolo magazine and spotted this dish; perfect winter warmer for my new clay pots.
"refreshing nabe made from ginger, spring onions and chicken"

wonder if i have a new
pot fetish developing...

Your new pot looks lovely! I wish I could get all the pots I fall in love with but they take up so much space in the cupboard!!! how do you keep them all? haha

Lovely pot cooking too! :D

living in hong kong has made me the worlds best organizer.
as you know we don't have much storage space in hong kong so it's all about organization.
in saying that, this new addition to my collection (!?) is on display in the kitchen.
i bought four and they look kinda good stacked up together.
better to worry about where you are gonna put them after you buy rather than before.

hey there, i love how something "special" for you means clay pots. for me it means a blow job and a beer. haha just kidding. but at least something deep fried! anyway: see you're reading "a fine balance". I just finished it. I loved it! Especially the ending. I forget most endings quickly, but this particular ending stays with me. It's thought-provoking and excellent. :-D

well i would never say no to a b or a b, but believe me, you wouldn't want to get one of those when wandering around a back street of hong kong!

oh, you just read the book a fine balance!?
it's a little big bulking to read on the subway going to and from work so i'm only reading it when i have some free time, but so far it's looking promising.

haha, who knows, maybe you can get a b or a b in the back streets of hk. keep your eyes open! lol.

it took me a while to get into "a fine balance", and it certainly helps to read a lot a pages in one sitting. but once i got into it, i couldn't put it down, and was starting to looking forward coming home from work just so i could continue reading! (yeah, that's pretty nerdy...)
